Perhaps, you’ve driven past one of our locations, but have absolutely no idea what happens inside.
That’s something we’d like to change.
Because, FHSI isn’t just a “WIC place.” And we aren’t just an “STI clinic.”
We’re a doorway to a much larger network of care and support for people throughout Lincoln, NE and Southeast Nebraska. Two programs. One mission.
Under the FHSI roof, you’ll find two major areas of care: Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and Sexual & Reproductive Wellness (SRW).
They may sound like two very different programs, but we believe one can’t have true support for Women, Infants, Children and families without also caring for sexual and reproductive health as well.
A new parent might need nutrition support and breastfeeding resources through WIC, while also needing birth control or a wellness exam.
A college student might first meet us through STI testing and later discover they can come back for birth control, pregnancy testing or other reproductive health care.
A family might walk through our doors looking for help with one immediate need and discover resources they didn’t even know were available to them.
Food affects health. Pregnancy affects finances. Sexual health affects relationships and future plans. Having a baby can change nearly every corner of a family’s life.
Real life is interconnected, so support should be too.
That’s why we want our communities to think of FHSI as more than the individual service that first brought them through our doors.
Through FHSI, people in our communities can access services including:
- WIC benefits and nutrition support
- Nutrition education
- Prenatal and breastfeeding support
- Wellness exams
- Birth control
- STI and HIV testing
- Pregnancy testing and counseling
- Vasectomies
- Additional resources and connections to other care
- And just as importantly, you’ll find people who can help you figure out what comes next.
You don’t have to arrive already knowing which program you need, what you qualify for or which direction to go. You don’t need insurance. Sometimes, the first step is simply asking. Your health journey can start here.
We will help to connect people with the care, education and resources that can make life a little healthier and more manageable.
